Research data management
Research data are generated in the scientific work process within the framework of experiments, measurements, surveys, interviews, etc. and serve as the basis of every research activity. Generating them usually involves great effort, therefore they are valuable assets of scientific institutions. Research data are discipline-specific and are available in different formats and types (e.g. tables, videos, images).
In order to be able to reuse this data in further research projects, so-called FAIR Data Principles were developed. These ensure that research data is available in a retrievable, accessible, interoperable and reusable form.
PUBLISSO services in the research data life cycle
In research data management, the process that includes all methods and procedures along a research project is referred to as the "research data life cycle".
This cycle of well-documented research data management is supported in many ways by PUBLISSO service offerings:
At the beginning of a research project, it is important to plan how to handle the data and research results that will be generated during the project. Setting up a data management plan, for instance with the software tool RDMO4Life, can help with this.learn more
Assigning persistent identifiers such as a DOI makes research data permanently findable and citable. Through ZB MED’s DOI service, research institutions in the life sciences can independently register DOIs.learn more
Research data that are deposited in digital archives stay available over the long term in such a way that they remain retrievable and technically usable, and that their content remains interpretable.learn more
