ZB MED involved in the EU Project EOSC Future

Dr. Katharina Markus participates in the international user group.

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) is an environment for hosting and processing research data. It has been developed by the European Commission since 2015 to facilitate access to data, data processing platforms, applications and data processing services for scientists in Europe. In April 2021, the EOSC Future project was launched to support and drive the implementation of the EOSC. The term of this project ends in September 2023.

The EOSC Future User Group, which has now been established, consists of around 300 actively researching and research-related scientists, i.e. users of the European Open Science Cloud. The group's task is to support the further development and expansion of the EOSC within the EOSC Future Project and to accompany it with subject-specific expertise. The user group is to provide feedback on developments and services and applications offered in the future, as well as test new solutions and prototypes.

Dr. Katharina Markus is head of digital preservation at ZB MED. She is particularly concerned with the challenges of long-term reuse of research data, digital long-term archiving of e-journals and e-books, and automated transfer of material to long-term archives. In all these fields, she is committed to Open Science.
