70 years of the MAK Commission
In 2025, the Standing Senate Commission for the Investigation of Occupational Health Hazards (MAK Commission) of the German Research Foundation will celebrate its 70th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the DFG is hosting an Open Science Day at Futurium in Berlin on 1 October 2025. The editorial team of the MAK Collection from ZB MED's PUBLISSO team will present the MAK Collection as part of the PUBLISSO PUBLISHING poster presentation.
About the MAK Collection
The MAK Commission conducts research into chemical substances and mixtures of substances with regard to their effects on health in the workplace. The resulting MAK Collection consists of two parts: the MAK and BAT value lists, published annually in German, English and Spanish, and the journal The MAK Collection for Occupational Health and Safety, published in German and English.
Both are published in open access with a cc-by-4.0 licence by PUBLISSO Publishing and are made available for the long term via ZB MED's digital long-term archiving service. The MAK Collection thus offers centralised, free and permanent access to approximately 4,500 publications. This means that the research results of the MAK Commission can be used directly for policy-making, business and occupational safety practices. A new feature is a specially developed search function that allows users to search for substances and their assessments and classifications.
