Theses and dissertations
Publishing electronic doctoral and post-doctoral (Habilitation) theses submitted to the medical faculty of the University of Cologne
The doctoral studies regulations issued by the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne on 13 August 2008 permit doctoral candidates to submit their thesis in both print form and electronic form.
ZB MED – Information Centre for Life Sciences can permanently archive your electronic doctoral thesis or post-doctoral (Habilitation) thesis on its document server, create references to it in library catalogues, and make it publicly accessible.
The document is simultaneously archived and referenced at the German National Library in Frankfurt/Leipzig to fulfil the legal deposit requirements. Two persistent identifiers will also be assigned to your work (URN and DOI).
Publishing electronic doctoral and post-doctoral (Habilitation) theses which have already been accepted by other universities
If you have already published your doctoral or post-doctoral thesis in print format at a different university (i.e. not at the University of Cologne), you can still choose to publish it electronically in the ZB MED Specialist Repository for Life Sciences. This will ensure the digital preservation of your document which will be provided with what is known in academic circles as a 'persistent identifier', or DOI.
To publish your thesis we will need you to send us a signed publication agreement (in duplicate) as well as a copy of your doctoral or post-doctoral thesis.
